Olympus has announced the compact cameras 14MP SZ-11 and LV-15. SZ-11 is a compact superzoom that manages to squeeze a 20 wide X (25-500 mm equivalent) zoom in a relatively compact body. Pentax has announced the Optio RS1500 compact camera with interchangeable, user designable covers. Identically specced to the RS1000 launched last year, it features a simpler, snap-on system for attaching different covers, rather than the screw-on system of the older model. The RS1500 ships with 10 skins, with the option to download or create your own cover that secures behind a transparent front-plate. Features include a 14MP sensor, a 27.5-110mm equivalent lens and 720p HD movie recording capabilities.

Leica has announced the V-Lux 30 superzoom compact featuring an image-stabilized wideangle 16x zoom lens (24-384mm equivalent). The camera also offers 1080i Full HD movie recording in the AVCHD format, 10fps continuous shooting at full 14.1MP resolution, built-in GPS, and can generate 3D images. Rounding off the features set is a 3" touch-sensitive screen. The V-Lux 30 comes complete with Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and Adobe Premiere Elements 9 software, and will be available from June 2011 at a price of £550.

The Leica DC Vario-Elmar 4.3 - 68.8 mm f/3.3-5.9 ASPH. 16x zoom lens has an extended range of focal lengths equivalent to 24 to 384 mm in 35-mm format. Thanks to this high performance lens, the Leica V-Lux 30 delivers outstanding image quality and covers a wide range of photographic opportunities, ranging from wide-angle and macro shots to telephoto shots of distant subjects.

The newly developed 1/2.33" CMOS sensor of the Leica V-Lux 30 guarantees outstanding image quality and allows photographers to capture image sequences with the camera’s fast, continuous shooting mode. The Leica V-Lux 30 enables consecutive burst shooting at a rate of ten frames per second at a full resolution of 14.1 MP, or 60 frames per second with reduced resolution in a choice of individual aspect ratios. As with the complete Leica portfolio, the V-Lux 30 is characterized by timelessly elegant styling and extremely easy handling. With the new 3" LCD touch screen, many camera features can now be controlled simply by touching the screen with a fingertip. This generously dimensioned screen has a diagonal of approximately three inches and displays images in outstanding brilliance with a resolution of 460,000 pixels. This provides users with an ideal tool for reliable and precise assessment of images both during composition and after capture.

Thanks to the integrated GPS function, the camera records the geographical coordinates of the location and the local time for every shot and saves them in the Exif data of the image files. When travelling, the V-Lux 30 can also display the sightseeing highlights of the immediate neighborhood (1,000,000 so-called “Points of Interest”). Images posted on social networks, image portals and map sites such as Google Maps or Google Earth reveal exactly when and where they were shot.*

Leica announced the M9 - P, a variant of its 18MP full-frame M9 rangefinder camera. The p version wins the Sapphire LCD already seen on the M8.2 Leica but now featuring anti-reflective coatings enhanced for the improvement of the visibility in difficult lighting conditions. To provide a discreet appearance, the M9 - P fails the traditional Leica red dot and M9 designation of the front of the camera, the Leica name is rather engaved in the metal top-plate in the traditional script of the company.

Leica has today a new version of the camera smaller, full-frame digital system of the world: the Leica M9 - P. This new model will sit alongside the Leica M9 in portfolio telemetric company, providing an alternative, more discreet and resilient design which reinforces the nature of the M9 par excellence - and especially meets the needs of professional photographers. The new model will be available in a chrome classic Silver or subtle black paint finish.

Providing the same technical specifications as the very successful Leica M9, M9 - P combines all the advantages of the original: compact size, full-frame, 18 megapixel 24 x 36 mm sensor (35 mm format), sophisticated image processing and robust construction, with features designed for the professional user or photographers who prefer a pure style, yet more discrete.

The Leica M9 - P includes a Crystal resistant to scratch, Sapphire covering on the LCD. This material is so difficult that the screen can only be produced with special diamond tools and is one of the hardest materials in the world. Accordingly, coverage sapphire glass LCD is extremely wear-resistant and virtually unbreakable, means many years of reliable use. In addition, thanks to an anti-reflective coating on both sides of the cover, examine the images on the screen in composition and after capture is further enhanced, especially in adverse lighting conditions.

The external covering of the body of the M9 - P, finished leather vulcanite, features a coarselytextured more finish that ensures a constant support during the shooting, to the M9 - P of the individual and secure in hand.

A discrete feature more Leica M9 - P is his minimalist style, which focuses on the most essential aspects. Many professional photographers using Leica cameras are known about the band on the "red dot" logo Leica to make their equipment as discreet and unobtrusive as possible. For this reason, the logo of the red dot Leica and M9 lettering on the front have been omitted. Instead, the top plate is etched with the name of Leica in classic script.

Sony has added the NEX-C3 to its range of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The C3 features the same 16.2MP seen in the SLT A35, again promising improved battery life. The latest model is directly aimed at offering a compact-camera-like experience to users looking to upgrade to a large-sensor camera. It also features the 'Picture Effects' processing filters that will be available to NEX-3 and NEX-5 owners as a firmware update. The NEX-C3 will be available as a kit with the 18-55mm E-mount lens for around $649 or $599 with the 16mm F2.8 lens. A more powerful external flashgun for the NEX system is also being announced. The HVL-F20S has a guide number of 20 (m, 50mm/ISO 100) and will be available from October at around $150. Easy-to-use a NEX-C3 Features 16.2 Megapixels, HD Video and Friendly New Interface

SAN DIEGO, June 8, 2011 – Sony’s new ? NEX-C3 is the world’s smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sized sensor. Offered in a range of stylish colors, the NEX-C3 brings the promise of DSLR-quality photography to the millions of consumers looking to take professional-looking photos without the size and bulk of traditional DSLR cameras.

The NEX-C3 features an attractive new body design that combines a satisfyingly solid metal top casing with an easy-to-use streamlined grip shape. Reducing the size of its internal circuitry visibly shrinks the camera’s size and achieves a body weight of just 225g (approximately 8 ounces) – nearly six percent lighter than its predecessor, the NEX-3 camera. Image quality, functionality and usability of the NEX-C3 camera also surpass that of the NEX-3 model.

The resolution of the camera’s large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor is boosted to 16.2 effective megapixels, capturing stills and 720p HD video with breath-taking clarity. The large, DSLR-sized sensor also lets users produce pro-quality background defocus effects, whether shooting HD video or stills.

Photo Creativity
The intuitive new Photo Creativity interface on the NEX-C3 camera puts sophisticated controls within easy reach, whether users are shooting stills or HD Video. Technical terms like ‘aperture’, ‘exposure value’ and ‘white balance’ are replaced with the friendlier and more intuitive ‘background defocus’, ‘brightness’ and ‘color’, allowing users to easily create custom-styled photographs. A traditional interface with Aperture/Shutter Priority, Manual and custom functions is always available for experienced users, along with highly customizable soft-keys for programming direct access to important controls.

With the NEX-C3 camera, users don’t need to dig into confusing menu options or guess their effect on a composition. They just need to turn the camera’s rear-mounted control wheel and instantly see the effect of their settings previewed on screen. Also, two or more different settings can be combined to create more sophisticated creative effects.

A new in-camera ‘Picture Effect’ setting lets users add extra impact to stills or HD video during shooting, without the worry of editing images afterwards. ‘Picture Effect’ options include Partial Color, Retro Photo, Pop Color, High Contrast Monochrome, Posterization, High-key and Toy Camera. There’s also a ‘Soft Skin’ effect that removes wrinkles and blemishes from portrait subjects.

Tilting for comfortable viewing at any angle, the high contrast 3-inch (measured diagonally) Xtra Fine LCD features TruBlack screen technology for high-contrast images with rich, deep blacks. This is an ideal way to compose shots and judge the effect of adjusting picture settings, even when viewing outdoors in bright sunlight.

Long-Lasting Battery
The NEX-C3 works even harder to capture amazing images and HD video between battery charges. Improved energy efficiency boosts battery life to a generous 400 still shots per charge – a more than 20 percent increase from the both the NEX-5 and NEX-3 cameras.

Multi-Shot Imaging Technologies
Sony’s Advanced multi-shot technologies further broaden the possibilities of the NEX-C3 camera. 3D Sweep Panorama™ mode captures extra-wide images that can be viewed in 3D on a 3D television with compatible 3D glasses. Auto HDR “stacks” a high-speed burst of three successive exposures to capture extreme shadow and highlight details in a single frame. Similarly, Handheld Twilight and Anti-Motion Blur modes automatically combine six exposures to capture smooth, low-noise images. This avoids hand-blur and subject-blur when shooting in available light.

New E-mount 30mm Macro Lens and Other Compatible Accessories
The versatility of the ? E-mount compact camera system grows with new style-matched accessories to expand shooting possibilities even further.

Joining the range of E-mount interchangeable lenses, the SEL30M35 is currently the world’s lightest life-size macro lens (approx 4.9 ounces) for interchangeable-lens cameras. This high-quality 30mm F3.5 macro lens features a 1:1 magnification ratio and minimum working distance of just 0.95 inches (2.4 cm), making it ideal for capturing detail-packed close-ups of small subjects like flowers and insects.

Despite its extremely compact size, the SEL30M35 employs one ED glass and three aspherical lens elements for excellent optical performance, with minimized aberration and very high edge-to-edge sharpness and contrast. It also offers smooth, quiet autofocus operation whether shooting stills or HD video. The macro lens is supplied with a matching lens hood.

Also available as an option, the new HVL-F20S is a style-matching flash that clips onto the Smart Accessory Terminal of NEX-C3 and other E-mount cameras. Powered directly by the camera, the flash requires no batteries, making it ultra-compact and light weight for travelling. With a generous GN20 (50mm, at ISO 100, m) flash power rating and adjustable head, it’s ideal for creating natural fill-in and bounce flash effects with portraits and everyday shooting subjects.

The expanded range of coordinating accessories features a new body case/lens jacket and a soft carrying case. The new camera is also compatible with Sony’s full line of SD memory cards, including the newest Class 10 versions, as well as the Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX series. Firmware update for NEX-5, NEX-3
A firmware upgrade (Version 4) adds the new ‘Picture Effect’ function to existing NEX-5 and NEX-3 cameras. It also adds a Peaking function to assist with more precise manual focusing. This upgrade will be available June 20th and can be downloaded from: (www.esupport.sony.com).

Pricing and Availability
The new NEX-C3 ultra-compact digital camera will be available this August in silver, black and pink with an 18-55mm kit zoom lens (model SEL1855) and will cost about $650. It will also be offered in black only with a 16mm lens (model SEL16F28) for about $600.

The new SEL30M35 E-mount Macro lens will be available this October for about $250 and the HVL-F20S flash will be available this August for about $150.

Olympus has launched the E-P3, its fifth generation Micro Four Thirds camera. The P3 features a familiar-looking PEN body and revised 12MP sensor but almost every other aspect of the camera has changed. The latest flagship PEN features what the company claims to be the world's fastest AF-S performance, as well as a 614,000 dot VGA-equivalent OLED touch-sensitive screen and built-in flash. Nikon has unveiled the D5100 upper-entry-level DSLR and we've prepared a full preview of the camera, detailing its features. Sitting above the D3100, it includes a 16.2 MP CMOS sensor much like that in the D7000, 1080p movie capability and a side-articulated 921K dot 3.0" tilt/swivel LCD. The D5100 also becomes the first Nikon DSLR to be able to apply special processing filters to stills and video. The company has also introduced the ME-1 external microphone. The camera will be available from this month as a kit with the 18-55mm VR lens for $899.95 while the microphone will retail at $179.99. We've had a production-spec sample of the camera, so have shot our standard test scene and some real-world samples to accompany our preview.

The Nikon D5100 D-SLR houses a host of new and innovative features aimed at giving photographers the tools to shatter creative constraints and tell stories with amazing image quality and stunning HD movies.

The Nikon D5100 includes features designed to enhance the shooting experience, including an impressive new 3-inch, super sharp 921,000-dot Vari-angle LCD screen and full HD (1080p) movie recording with full-time autofocus. The 16.2-megapixel D5100 is also the first Nikon D-SLR to provide in-camera effects that can be applied to both photos and movies to deliver even more creative expression.

Ready for the Adventure of Life
The D5100 allows photographers of all levels to confidently execute new and creative ways to tell stories with amazing color and clarity. Whether shooting high over crowds or down low to a toddler’s point of view, the swing out style Vari-angle LCD screen makes it easy to compose and share great images. Displaying even the most subtle details with clarity, the super sharp LCD has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 921,000-dot resolution, with the ability to rotate 180 degrees horizontally and vertically.

To further test creative boundaries, photographers can take advantage of the D5100’s in-camera Special Effects Mode. Applied to either stills or D-Movies, these innovative effects are easy to apply and add a high level of creativity and fun to the photo experience. By selecting the Effects position on the mode dial located on top of the camera, photographers can easily apply effects such as Selective Color and choose up to three different colors in a scene while the remainder of the scene is converted to monochrome. Color Sketch creates photos and a stop motion movie in a colorful sketched drawing style, while the Miniature effect records photos and high speed movies to bestow a feeling of a mini-scale scene. To record photos in extreme lighting conditions or to produce movies with a gritty appearance , the new Night Vision mode calls upon Nikon’s pro D-SLR performance to offer extreme low-light capability by enabling the camera to shoot up to a super-high 102,400 ISO. In addition to the Effects mode, users can create photos with amazing tonal range by selecting the high dynamic range (HDR) function within the camera. With this selected, the D5100 will automatically expose two consecutive images in rapid succession – one over and one underexposed up to 3EV stops to produce a finished photo with an amazing range of midtones and highlights that wouldn’t otherwise be possible in a single shot. Additionally, Active D-Lighting can be selected by itself or combined with HDR for an even more dramatic effect.

The versatile Nikon D5100 D-SLR will motivate shooters to further explore creatively with its advanced camera features including full manual controls (P,S,A,M on the mode dial) offering the ability to manage the camera’s aperture and shutter speeds. Once the photo is captured, photographers have the flexible retouch menu at their disposal to apply additional in-camera effects and editing options including color and filter effects, red eye correction and NEF (RAW) processing.

The remarkably wide ISO range of 100-6400 (expandable to a staggering 25,600 ISO), allows photographers to shoot confidently in outdoor and indoor low-light situations, even handheld with low noise. In challenging lighting conditions such as when a subject is backlit, Nikon’s Active D-lighting feature helps to keep shadows and highlights consistent for even exposures.

To further unleash creativity, the Picture Control system also affords users the choice for Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait, or Landscape settings to apply a personal look and feel to their pictures. Additionally, the versatile Scene Modes let them choose from Portrait, Landscape, Child, Sports, Close-up or Night Portrait and more for stunning results in just about all possible lighting conditions.

Create Full HD Movies
The Nikon D5100 captures 1080p full HD movies with full-time autofocus and manual exposure control. Users can quickly switch focus modes to stay with the action through a variety of AF functions, including face priority which can track up to 35 human faces, subject-tracking and normal or wide-area autofocus. To activate D-Movie mode and Live-view, a new switch is ergonomically located on the top of the camera near the shutter button for easy access.

The D5100 D-SLR offers variable frame rates and resolutions for movies, and can record 1080p at a cinema-like 24 or 30fps, or a web-friendly 720p resolution at either 24 or 30 fps for up to 20 minutes per clip, in the AVC-HD H.264 codec. Once recorded, movie clips can be edited and trimmed in the camera to save time in post production. Whether utilizing a wireless or hot shoe mounted microphone such as the new ME-1, sound can be recorded via the stereo microphone input for professional audio results. Captured movies can be easily shared using the HDMI output, and controlled remotely with HDMI CEC compatibility.

Superior Image Quality
The 16.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor is capable of capturing images that erupt with color and offer amazing sharpness and clarity to create images and full HD movies even in low-light conditions. Coupled with Nikon’s exclusive EXPEED2 image processing engine, images are brought to life with vivid colors and amazing contrast, accurate exposure, and low noise levels resulting in brilliant image quality. The EXPEED 2 engine also drives the quick 11-point AF system on the D5100 to provide rapid focus acquisition even on fast moving subjects. When shooting action, split second shutter response and four frames per second burst rate make sure no moment is missed, forever putting to rest the story of “the one that got away”.

Whether shooting lush wilderness landscapes or an urban skyline, the D5100 utilizes Nikon’s exclusive Scene Recognition System to analyze subject information from a database containing more than 30,000 images to optimize focus, exposure, i-TTL flash exposure and white balance. To assist in creating amazing imagery, the Scene Recognition System reads data from the 420-pixel 3D Color Matrix Meter RGB sensor that examines the scene’s brightness and color data then optimizes the camera’s performance prior to the actual exposure.

Alongside the PEN E-P3, Olympus has announced the PEN Lite and PEN Mini. These closely-related sister models (formally called E-PL3 and E-PM1) feature similar specifications but smaller bodies that borrow heavily from the styling of the company's XZ-1 enthusiast compact. Both cameras are aimed at the point-and-shoot upgrader and feature 460,000 dot LCDs, rather than the E-P3's OLED display but otherwise retain much of that camera's capability, including what's claimed to be the world's fastest AF. Olympus has announced the SZ-30MR compact, which allows simultaneous capture of 1080p HD videos and full resolution stills. The 24x superzoom is built around a 16MP CMOS sensor and is capable of 9 fps full-resolution continuous shooting and can generate 3D images. It features a 3.0" LCD and zoom lens stretching from 25 to 600mm equivalent. The spec is rounded out with the company's Magic Filters for both stills and videos, AF tracking and image stabilization. Also announced is the UK-only SZ-20, which houses a 12.5x (24-300mm equiv.) zoom in a slightly smaller body. The SZ-20 loses the multi-recording function but is otherwise essentially the same specification.

Fujifilm has unveiled the FinePix Z900EXR premium ultra-compact incorporating the company's latest 16MP EXR CMOS sensor. Featuring the same the 460K dot 3.5" LCD of the Z8000EXR, it offers a more useful image-stabilized 28-140m equivalent lens and full 1080p HD movie capture in the H.264 (MOV) format. The camera will be available from May 2011, at a price of $279.95 / £219, in Brilliant Black, Gloss Red, Hot Pink and Royal Blue

Stepping into the shoes of the Z800EXR, the new FinePix Z900EXR comes in an eye-catching high gloss finish and offers a wide selection of Fujifilm’s latest technologies to help deliver great images in all conditions. Specification highlights include a brand new EXR-CMOS sensor, 5x wide-angle zoom lens, touch-screen LCD with improved user interface, a selection of high speed shooting modes and high quality video capture all packed into a slim body that’ll fit neatly into a bag or pocket. Meaning style-conscious photographers no longer have to compromise looks for picture quality.

Beauty is more than just skin deep
While the FinePix Z900EXR may be stunning to look at, it also has inner beauty in the shape of the all-new 16 megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor.

Found in other new premium FinePix models including the HS20EXR and F550EXR, the sensor combines two cutting edge technologies to help deliver brilliant pictures in any lighting conditions. Whether you’re shooting outside in bright sunlight, or indoors in subdued lighting, the EXR-CMOS will come into its own thanks to the combination of a Back Side Illuminated (BSI) sensor and triple-layer EXR array.

With conventional sensor design, light has to pass through a layer of wiring before it reaches the photo diodes. This reduces the amount of light hitting the sensor. But with a BSI sensor, the wiring layer and photo diodes are reversed so sensitivity is improved; a benefit that’s particularly obvious when shooting in low light conditions.

The triple-layer EXR array adds further versatility by modifying its behaviour according to the picture-taking situation. Users can either let the Z900EXR choose the correct setting itself by selecting the EXR Auto mode, or pick from three manual options:

High Resolution mode should be chosen when you’re after exceptional image quality. The FinePix Z900EXR uses the full 16 megapixel resolution to produce images that can printed out at A3 size straight from the camera.Signal to Noise mode is the one to choose in low light conditions where the combination with the BSI sensor makes for superb results. To achieve this, the Z900EXR uses Pixel Fusion where it doubles the size of the pixels to make them more sensitive to light.Finally, Dynamic Range mode cleverly takes two pictures and combines them to provide a range of up to 1600%. This makes light work of scenes with lots of contrast such as a landscape on a summer’s day or a portrait where the light source is behind the subject.

3.5 inch LCD: a touch of class
Fujifilm has harnessed the very latest touch-screen technology on the FinePix Z900EXR. The large, 3.5 inch LCD has 460,000 pixels for high image quality, plus it adds Multi Touch functionality to make it even easier to check sharpness and clarity on your shots. With the Z900EXR you can use two fingers to expand and reduce image size or simply swipe from side-to-side to scroll through your shots, iPhone-style.

An improved user interface also ensures that the camera is easier and more pleasant to use. Pixellated graphics are so last year! Now they’ve been replaced with rounded text and graphics thanks to Vector fonts and Flash-based animation. What’s more, the improved graphics are scaleable, so you’ll benefit from the improved interface whether you’re using the camera’s rear LCD or viewing images through an HDTV via the mini HDMI output.

Great shots, in the blink of an eye
How many shots have you missed because your current compact hasn’t been able to keep up with the action? The FinePix Z900EXR makes missed shots a thing of the past thanks to its selection of features for super-fast capture.

You can shoot up to 3 frames per second at 16 megapixel resolution, which will ensure you keep up with even the fastest action. Speed demons won’t be disappointed by the high speed video function either with an incredible 320 frames per second available, which will stop anything in its tracks.

This high speed functionality has benefits for more conventional images, too. The FinePix Z900EXR’s Pro Low Light and Pro Focus modes both capture multiple images in the blink of an eye and then combine them to deliver brilliant results. Pro Low Light will help you get perfect images in lower lighting conditions without having to resort to using a tripod or other support, while Pro Focus takes images at different focusing points to produce a blurred background; perfect for concentrating full attention on portrait subjects.

Video quality doesn’t come any better
Fujifilm recognises that the world doesn’t just revolve around still images, which is why the FinePix Z900EXR features high quality Full HD video capability even in low light conditions with Pixel Fusion Movie technology. Here, pixels are doubled up to make them more sensitive to low light so it is perfect for the night party season! Also, it can save as the H.264 format; which doesn’t take up as much room on the memory card as a conventional AVI file. Not only does this mean you can shoot more high quality 1080p footage, it’s easier to share with friends and family via sites like YouTube, or by simply plugging the camera straight into a HD-ready TV.

Sony has announced the WX30, a 5 x zoom camera with 16 2MP backlit CMOS sensor. The lens covers an equivalent zoom of 25-125 mm and uses of processed "By Pixel Super resolution" of the company to provide the functionality of "Zoom of picture" claimed to double the range of effective zoom to full resolution. He also won the same "Image effect" image filters as the TX55, with a 3.0 920,000 dot, touch screen "(7,5_cm)." It uses fast reading of the CMOS chip to provide 10 fps continuous in shooting in a burst of fire up to 10 and film HD 1080i50 shooting (on the European version).
